Grand Parents................

Nothing is more of a blessing than being able to watch your grandchildren. Bill and Rachel are honeymooning in Cost Rica. Grandpa and Grandma Olson are watching Kenzie and Madi and their two dogs Neela and Kita. It has been a busy, fun week and the girls will go home later today. We have played, swam, grilled, had a camp fire and stayed up late. We have taken dogs for walks, given them baths, brushed their teeth and have some very funny stories to tell the last couple of days.

Baby Came First...... DREXEL TRUMAN

Brian and Michelle's darling little guy Drexel Truman was born on July 7, 2008 at 7:09. He weighed 8lbs 12 oz and was 21 inches long. Baby and mom are doing wonderful. We went to meet him last night for the first time. He was released from the hospital at 7:00 and we (Bill,Amy, Aubrey and I)were there to meet him. Grandpa Bill was holding him as soon as he got in the door and loving it. Drexel looks alot like his mommy and I can see his daddy in him too. He is a unique little guy. It was fun to watch him stretch his arms and make those little new born sounds. His mommy and daddy are so proud of him! Brian had the biggest grin on his face the whole time we were there! We are so excited to have this 3rd grandson and our 7th grandchild! It will be fun to watch him grow up. We loved hearing the birthing story from both Michelle and Brian, a water birth is very different and it seems like both Drexal and Michelle came through it well. Now they will experience all those "firsts" and have lots of baby stories to tell us. We are so blessed!

What's Going to Arrive First?

We have two extremely important events happening within the next few weeks! On July 17th Michelle and Brian are expecting their first born son. If he is anything like Brian he will be quite a surprise to everyone. Brian loves surprises! I can just see the smile on Brian's face when the little guy finally arrives! Michelle started a blog and we can now all take a guess at when the little one is coming.

On July 19th our son Bill will marry his lovely fiance Rachel. It is simply amazing that we are just around the corner from Bill and Rachel's wedding. I am looking forward to it being a fun time. Bill and Rachel are really into making sure everyone has a good time. Watching them dance together will be a blast. Rumor has it Bill is learning a few new hot steps. I imagine he just can't wait to get out on the dance floor with Rachel and show us his "stuff". Rachel is a natural out on the dance floor so I know she will look great!

Two very special new additions into our family. Two new blessings woven into our hearts and joined in the circle of our family's love.

I am leaving for Alexandria next Monday with Rachel. I am looking forward to spending time with her before the wedding. She and her mom are both fun to be with!

Heritage

Bill and I had an opportunity to go to the Lone Rock Historical Church in Flandreau, North Dakota on Sunday, riding along with my dad and Carol. We were celebrating the Heritage Family of Stork and Betsy (Bertina) Ringham and their children Theodore, John, Susanna, Bertina (Betsy), John II, Christopher, Albert, Peter, Andre, Minnie, Ernest, Carl and all their descendants. Stork Ringham signed the Charter document organzing the Lone Rock Norwegian Evangelical Congregation on November 21, 1877. Stork and Betsy Ringham were my great, great grandparents. Their daughter Betsy married Thomas Styrkson Ringham. Betsy was my great, great grandmother and she had 7 children. My grandmother Stella was the 4th child born to them. It was interesting to see the family line both Betsy's(Rosheim)and Stork's traced back. Stork was born in Voss, Norway and Betsy was born in Rock County, Wisconsin. Also, in attendance was my great aunt Mildred (grandma Stell's sister)who is 96 and is the last living child of Betsy and Stork. Mildred is a spry 96 years old and is fun to talk and joke with. She lives on her own, here in Albert Lea at a senior living apartment complex.

A couple of the relatives in my dad's family are very into tracing the heritage and have traced both families back to the 1400's. My aunt Shirley has been back to Norway and visited the site where Stork was born. She has a tin cup which possibly belonged to the family. They were farmers and undoubtedly lived a fierce life out on the open prairie. They farmed 120 acres. Words describing their life said they were "adventurers".

The church service was very nice with two of the great, great granddaughers of Betsy and Stork providing piano music and singing. A potluck followed with much visiting, picture taking and picture sharing. It was a very enlightning day tracing back my ancestors.
