Our granddaugher McKenzie is twelve years old today! Happy birthday Kenzie!
We saw her for the 1st time when she was 2 weeks old - Angie and I flew out to California to see her and brought her a large white teddy bear with pink ribbon.
Teddy was bigger than Kenzie. She was such a sweet baby! We took her to Disney Land when she was 3 weeks old, she even got a cute disney outfit to wear. She could wink with both eyes when she was 10 months old and could say "puppy". I have been blessed to be a part of her life in her growing up and look forward to her teen age years!
The beginning of June is always a rainy time but this is very unusual to have so many storms. I was stuck in Walmart last Saturday at about 5:00 p.m. for almost an hour (a tornado touched down in Lake Mills and was coming towards Albert Lea) It was a really funny experience - they made everyone go to the back of the store to Lay Away and it was pretty ridiculous because there was no more shelter there than any where else in the Walmart building. Teen girls were crying and everyone was on their cell phone so cell phone lines were busy. They passed out water and cookies to try to keep everyone calm. Me, I wasn't about to get in the mix of all those people so I stayed close to the area but on the outside aisle, helping those with children. I was thankful when they called an all-clear. So, I guess lesson learned is don't go to Walmart when it looks like there is going to be a storm!
The flowers and tomatoe plants are all planted now so I guess it is good we are getting the rain. I love planting and watching the tomatoe's grow and I even bought a pepper plant this year. The rabbits love my evergreen tree's (I woke up one morning to the rabbit standing on his hind legs greedily eating up the tender morsels of the evergreen branches) so I have applied "liquid fence" it works great, is not harmful to the environment but is made with rotten eggs so it smells absolutely terrible. The smell quickly dimishes after it applied though. Thank goodness the little varmits are leaving them alone now.
We have a chipmunk in the neighborhood; Caleb and I nicknamed him Charlie. You wouldn't believe how many holes a chipmunk can dig in a day. We really have to do something about him too but he is so cute!
Angie called last night and Abram is rolling over! Can't wait to see him myself!

Time for the good stuff..............
Usually on Monday night I will come home after work, straighten the house and work on a project and about 8:00 I will switch on Lifetime to see what new Monday night movie is viewing. Well, last night I had just flipped on "Capture of the Green River Killer" and my cell phone started to ring. It was Kenzie and she wanted to know how to make that "frosting" I make. So, I proceded to give her the recipe for powdered sugar frosting and she said she was going to try it tomorrow, then 15 minutes later I got another phone call and she said it worked great and she was making graham crackers w/frosting to practice. Kenzie loves to cook and is always asking me how to make something. When she was two, she would stir up the batter for scrambled eggs and then stand on a chair to stir them (always with an extra long wooden spoon so she wasn't too close!) Her next favorite thing to bake was chocolate chip cookies and of course we all loved eating them too!
I am heading for the cities tonight after work to spend the day with Abram tomorrow. I know he and I will have lots of fun together while mom works on her paper. Sometimes you just have to make time for the "good" stuff!

Quiet Time ..........
The weekend was so much fun and went way too fast. We enjoyed the visit with Aunt Carolee and the shower for Bill and Rachel was great! This was the first couple's shower for most of us and was a good time. Angie, Brandy and Darlene did a great job with planning, food and fun. The games were great and it was so nice for the relatives to get to know Bill and Rachel better! Bill and Rachel were doing much laughing so I know they really enjoyed theirselves. They received some very special gifts.
I loved spending time with Kenzie and Madison. Madison and I even shared some minutes in Brandy's backyard rocking lawn chair. Kenzie and Madison along with a little help from Braydan did a little joke/skit on marriage, love and romance. It was fun to have them taking part in the shower.
Some of the relatives got to meet Abram for the first time and of course he was all smiles and giggles for them. They thought he was simply adorable! Grandma got to feed him his "rice" cereal on Saturday and a few laughs were had watching him eat.
Needless to say it was too quiet after the busy weekend. Can't wait until the next one!!!
